Avengers fever is riding high with the imminent release of Age of Ultron. Joss Whedon has done a phenomenal job with the Marvel franchise, so it was surprising that news broke today that the Russo brothers will direct both Part 1 and Part 2 of Avengers: Infinity War. While I am sad to see that Joss Whedon is focusing his attention elsewhere, I do have do admit that the Avengers franchise is in good hands.

Avengers: Infinity War
The Russo brothers (Anthony Russo and Joe Russo) are the directors behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which many consider to be the best Marvel film to date. I think that it’s a tie between Winter Soldier and The Avengers, but I have to agree that the second Captain America movie was phenomenal as it combined action and political intrigue into one incredibly awesome film.

The bad news is waiting for the films to come out. The Russo brothers are directing Captain America: Civil War, which is expected to come out sometime in 2016. The two Avengers: Infinity War movies are slated for 2018 and 2019. This is an incredible time to be a comic book geek, but the wait will always be agonizing. As for Joss Whedon, there’s no word on what he plans to work on after the next Avengers movie. I suppose that he’ll continue helping his brother on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, but he can write his own ticket to whatever he wants right now.
