There’s so many great geeky things out there either on tv, the movies, or on the web, that makes it hard to keep abreast of everything. There’s only so many hours in the day, but I think I may have found a new addiction. I’m talking about Geek & Sundry’s Tabletop videos where a group of geek personalities get together and play a game. TheĀ  video that I just watched featured a group comprised of Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, Ashley Clements, Amy Okuda, and Allison Scagliotti playing The Resistance.

Tabletop - The Resistance
The goal of The Resistance is that it’s a bluffing game of two factions, the overbearing government and the resistance. Each player has an identity of being part of one of the two factions. In this case, there are three resistance players and two spies for the government. At the beginning of the game, the spies are made known to each other. The game has five missions, and each mission requires a number of players to go on them. Each turn, a new mission leader picks a team of players to do the mission. The players then vote on whether or not to accept that team. Once accepted, those on the mission are dealt a success card and a fail one. The resistance players have to play the success card, but the spies can play either one. The resistance players win by completing three missions, but a mission can only succeed if every vote is a succeed card. That’s where the bluffing comes into play as the spies try to push suspicion onto other players and seek the best way to sabotage the missions.

All I can say about this video is that it’s hilarious. The interaction between the players is priceless and Felicia Day and Allison Scagliotti go into overdrive trying to deflect suspicion as they’re the spies. I love the quick asides as each player gives their impressions on what’s going on and who they suspect. Poor Amy Okuda was totally befuddled by being attacked by Felicia Day and Allison Scagliotti. It’s worth watching the video to see how Felicia Day schools Wil Wheaton on the art of lying. Lastly, I have to say that Wil Wheaton is one lucky guy.
