It’s a good day if you have Retro TV as part of your cable package. The BBC has reached an agreement with Retro TV for them to start airing classic Doctor Who episodes beginning on August 4th. The showings will begin with the first ever story, “An Unearthly Child” and proceed from there. Two episodes will be shown back-to-back every weeknight at 8pm EST.

Classic Doctor Who
There’ll also be an encore presentation of classic Doctor Who on the weekend as Retro TV will show a two hours on Saturday at 6pm. This will be part of their sci-fi lineup that will also include One Step Beyond and Mystery Science Theater 3000. This means Saturday night will be a cracking night for geeks. Not only are there the proceeding programs on Retro TV, but Me-TV has a sci-fi lineup on Saturday that includes Wonder Woman, Batman, Star Trek: The Original Series, Lost in Space, and a horror/sci-fi movie hosted by Svengoolie.

While this news of classic Doctor Who coming to Retro TV is great news, it does make me sad. Guess whose cable company stopped carrying that channel a few months ago? Sigh. I was looking forward to seeing William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee (the best Doctor ever), Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy on my regular tv again.
